Component Video Outputs
These outputs allow the highest quality video signal to be
sent from the DVD player to a component video equipped TV.
When this connection is utilized, typical NTSC artifacts -
like video noise and dot crawl - are virtually eliminated,
resulting in a low-noise, highly detailed picture with unequaled
color purity.

Black Level Expansion and PLUGE
Grayscale in video is measured and tracked on a scale of 0
(black) to 100 (white) IRE units. In NTSC video we have traditionally
assigned the 7.5 IRE value as being the black cutoff in a
picture. The EXPANDED mode in the "Video Black Level
Setting" menu enables Toshiba DVD players to output a
0 IRE signal for richer, deeper black tones in every image.

This highly convenient feature lets you connect your Toshiba
DVD player via Composite, S-Video, and/or Interlaced Component
Video Outputs and watch simultaneous images

Picture Modes
Video Black Level Expansion is one of several pre-set pictureconditions
offered in the EPM or Enhanced Picture Mode menu. In addition
to Cinema settings, there is also a separate pre-set picture
setting for animated titles labeled 'Anime'.

form allowing access to the Dolby Digital® /DTS® track

Expansion (E.A.M.)
Offers three audio-enhancing modes: NORMAL; 3-D provides virtual
surround sound from two-speaker playback systems via
Spatializer® N-2-2™; and DIALOGUE enhances center
channel frequencies during playback of Dolby Digital encoded
discs.

Zoom
This interactive feature allows you to select an area of the
picture you want to zoom in on and magnify. Enhanced digital
processing during moving video or freeze-frame playback produces
superior color fidelity and resolution, even when you're zoomed
in. Also can be used to expand letter-box-only films to increase
the viewable area on-screen.
Bitstream
Display
Displays an on-screen numeric readout of the digital data
transfer rate. Since DVD utilizes a variable bit rate, this
number will vary, often depending on the intricacy of the
scene. Can be used to evaluate the picture quality of any
disc.
